It's been five more years

We're wondering how we got here

At some point, we're even surprised we did get here.

It's been hard.

Tough, even.

Some days, our love didn't make sense to me

On some days, I didn't see the need to want to hold on.

Heck! Some days, I did give up,

And swore this was pointless.

More times than I care to admit, I let the chaos win.

But I'm glad I chose you.

I choose you because my keypad even agrees. It suggests your name after every I love you (further cheesy, I know)

Because in ten years, at the end of the line, 

I want to hear someone who asks, "How's your day going, mama?"

I want to be able to goof around with someone I can say things to, that I dare not say to anyone else.

In ten years, I want someone who swears he knows how to cook but is trying so hard not to burn his pizza in the oven.

In ten years, I want to pick a fight with someone because they didn't know to text with emojis.

In ten years, I want to feign anger because someone doesn't like my "messed-up" sleep schedule,

In ten years, I want someone who ends the call with, "I love you," instead of "Goodbye"

In ten years, and beyond, I still want me someone with head full of curls like those of a young hyacinth.

In ten years, and beyond, I still want you.
